Israel tours for slow walkers... for any reason!

Stroll, not struggle on our mobility-friendly tours!

Keep scrolling down to read the itinerary framework. We add extra surprises and visits en route.

If there is anything that you desperately want to see or do, we will do our best to accommodate you.

You see and experience more than on regular tours.
For instance... we save time and discomfort by not having to stand around at each site while the guide
shares his information.  Our guides speak to us as we travel... or sitting under a shady tree.

Expect to be blessed!
When you read the Bible after your pilgrimage to Israel, you will ‘see’ what the text is describing or can say “I’ve been there!”
It's like reading your Bible in living colour instead of black and white.

Trish Duke is a Bible School graduate and licensed non-denominational Minister.
She leads spiritually, but as many of our guests are mature Christians, there is an open invitation to share
in teaching, music, prayer or reading scripture etc .
Imagine giving a short sermon standing where Jesus spoke or singing for us on the Galilee boat trip!
Don't worry if you don't want to do that... not everyone does.

Travelling time
Israel is a tiny, (but very significant country). You can drive from top to bottom in a few hours.
In some places you can see from the eastern border to the Mediterranean in the west.
You won't be 'stuck' on the coach for long periods.

The longest journey, about 3 hours, is from Galilee to the Dead Sea, along the scenic Jordan valley.
We stop 3 times en-route to see sites, so an easy and pleasant journey.

Hotels
are good quality standard with comfortable rooms, air conditioning, TV,
en-suite bathrooms and walk-in showers.
Delicious buffet meals for breakfasts and evening meals are included.

The food is very fresh (95% of it grown in Israel) and varied to suit any dietary requirements.

We book the same hotels that locals use for conferences, celebrations, Bar Mitzvahs etc, so
they would not return if they didn't like the service and food etc.
Budget tours use big hotels (often with lots of stars) but cater mainly for huge tours and don't
care if you don't come back... not our style.

The pace of Easy Israel Tours is less tiring and frenetic than regular tours.
We aim to let you enjoy each place rather than rushing from one site to another.

We only have 3 hotel changes, so you aren't packing up every night.
You don't have to carry your luggage as the porters take it to and from
your room to the bus
.

Sure, we still have a timetable, but we try to avoid the 'rush and push' like a regular tour.
We want to enjoy our full breakfast, visit the bathroom and then feel eager and ready for the day!

With her physical therapy hat on, Trish has researched carefully how to conduct a
comprehensive tour with minimal walking, standing, rough ground and steps.
That way you can look at the view instead of the ground.

The culture and the people of 'The Land'
Our guide will introduce us to people and experiences that you wouldn't get on the 'big tours'.
It's going to be very special !

You must be able to get on and off the bus independently.
The bus only has 3 or 4 steps with a rail on both sides.
Can you walk for half an hour maximum independently or with a walker or cane?
At some places we have very little walking, others we walk further, but you can stop for a rest
on the way. We allow wheelchairs if you bring someone to push it.

Each day will be different in flavour and experience.

There will be good places to shop for souvenirs en-route, but no-one is trapped into shopping…
some of us think ‘shop’ is a four-letter word!   Shopaholics can be directed to markets and
streets in the afternoons if their ‘itch’ isn’t sufficiently scratched!
Because we shuffle the days and times of the places we visit we don't give out a detailed itinerary.
This is the framework for our itineraries of 'must see' places ... then we add other interesting places where and when we can!

Itinerary for Israel tours for slow walkers

Picture
Day # 1
As our travellers are flying in from around the world on different flights our arrival day is a time to rest
and explore Tel Aviv on your own... if you have the energy after a long flight.
We meet at sunset for welcome drinks and dinner overlooking the Mediterranean sea

Day # 2
This morning we tour Tel Aviv and Jaffa.
Tel Aviv is Israel’s second largest city on the country's Mediterranean coastline.
The city was founded in 1909 by Jewish immigrants on the outskirts of the ancient port
of Jaffa. It's known to have the third largest economy of any city in the Middle East
after Abu Dhabi and Kuwait city.
Israelites are reputed to play in Tel Aviv and pray in Jerusalem!
Jaffa (Yafo) which is part of Tel Aviv steeped in history.
Saladin, Richard the Lionheart and Napoleon all conquered it at different times.
Jonah set sail from here before he ended up in the whale’s belly.
Peter raised the widow Dorcas from the dead in Biblical Joppa and later on had his vision
of the sheet descending with clean and unclean animals.
Picture
We drive along the Rothschild Boulevard of today with its shops, high rise buildings and theatres,
and admire
the famous the UNESCO heritage ‘White City’ with 4,000 Bauhaus buildings, built by German Jewish architects..

Can you
imagine what it was like for the first sixty-six Jewish families who had to dig the first well
in a sand dune and used sea shells as boundary fences?!

Picture
The Hall of Independence is part of Israel's history from 1948
It is closed for renovations, but we stop and see the outside of the building
It's a three hour pleasant drive to the Galilee and on the way we stop after an hour, at the Roman port of Caesarea
Picture
Caesarea is an important site in Christian history.
It was the place where Pontius Pilate governed during the time of Jesus. We can stand in the ruins of the room where
Paul delivered his famous speech to Felix and Festus. Paul was also imprisoned here for two years.
This was where Simon Peter talked to Cornelius, the first Roman citizen to believe in Jesus.

We pass ample evidence of the Bible prophecy of how Israel would become ‘a desert blooming like a rose’.
Picture
We drive through the plain of Megiddo. Known for its historical, geographical location on trade routes and
theological importance, especially under its Greek name Armageddon. Many people believe that Bible prophecy places
Megiddo as a significant battleground for WW3.

Travelling through beautiful scenery to Galilee where we spend three nights at a Kibbutz hotel.
Your first site of the Sea of Galilee can be quite emotive.
Picture
Next stop is a JNF re-forestation area where each person can plant a young tree.
The hole is pre-dug for us near a path.

You may choose to plant your tree in memory of a loved one... a way of bringing
them to Israel with you!

Some decide to plant themselves into The Land spiritually using their tree.
This is also your part in the prophecy of helping 'the desert to bloom like a rose'!
It's often surprising to see the emotional impact on the planters.

We have the next three nights in Galilee and visit the following places...
not always in the same order.
Picture
Capernaum…a very special place!
This was where Jesus based his ministry from Peter’s house in Capernaum.
It was also the home of James, Andrew and John and Matthew the tax collector.
Jesus taught in the local synagogue and preached from a boat off the nearby beach.
Picture
Visit to Yigal Alon boat museum.
The Ancient Galilee Boat, also known as the Jesus Boat, was a fishing boat from the 1st century AD,
discovered in 1986 on the north-west shore of the sea of Galilee. The remains of the boat first appeared
during drought, when the waters of the Sea (actually a fresh-water lake) receded.

This is the type and size of boat that Jesus traveled around and across to the other side of the sea of Galilee
during his ministry. It makes the gospels more real when they tell us about the storm and preaching from a
boat off the shore in Capernaum.

This is also a good coffee stop with an excellent souvenir store.
Non-shoppers can explore more of the museum or enjoy views of the lake.

The sailing boat jetty is just behind...
Picture
The boat ride on the Sea of Galilee is one of the highlights of any tour!
The engines are turned off in the middle of the lake to let you enjoy the serenity and history…
you can hop out if you want to try your skills at walking on water!
The crew can demonstrate how the ancient fishermen used to cast their nets.
We sing and dance... it's glorious!
Picture
We drive through pleasant scenery to Nazareth, where Jesus spent his boyhood and visit a beautiful church.

Picture
Geoff, (far right)  who was on his second visit to the Holy land wrote:
"Going to Israel gives the scriptures a fuller meaning as the mental pictures are clearer."
He couldn't name any highlights, just said everything was amazing, great or moving!

Vivian (4th in from the right) said…
" Thank you for looking after us so well and your courtesy and kindness.
I loved Israel so much and wished I'd discovered it 30 years ago.
Highlights for me were the Western Wall, the Dead Sea and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
Picture
Sometimes we visit Tabgha church
Tabgha is best known for Christ's miraculous multiplication of loaves and fish to feed a multitude.
The image here is of the mosaic in the church floor.
The beach nearby is thought to be where the risen Christ cooked breakfast for the disciples after they had been
unsuccessfully fishing all night.
Picture
Mount of Beatitudes hillside
The hillside beside the church has special acoustics which made it a perfect place for Jesus to preach
the Sermon on the Mount.
We'll enjoy the peace and spectacular view.
Picture
Magdala Archeological Park
This was the home of Mary Magdalene and the Synagogue where Jesus preached.
It's one of the most recently excavated sites with a beautiful, newly built church.
The pulpit is a replica of the type of fishing boat used in Jesus' lifetime.
Picture
Mount Bental is one of Israel’s favourite mountain peaks to visit, partly due to the great panoramic views of the Golan
and even Syria but also because this was the site of a courageous battle fought during Israel’s war for the Golan during
the Yom Kippur War in 1973.
A short drive up, the mountain-top provides both scenic beauty and a glimpse back at the past, with bunkers open to visitors.

Kibbutz El Rom is a favourite stop where we see exciting short movie depicting the battle between Israel and Syria
in the Valley of Tears during the Yom Kippur War.

After our three nights in the Galilee we start the pleasant 3 hour journey to Ein Bokek, on the Dead Sea
with interesting sites en route...so you won't feel 'stuck' on the coach!

One of the stops on our way south is to the River Jordan...

Picture
 River Jordan baptisms
Usually about half of our groups decide to be baptised or re-dedicate themselves in the river Jordan at the Kibbutz Yardinet.
Even if you have been baptised before, this can be an anointed moment in your life.
Trish Duke, the tour leader, is a licensed minister and will be directing the baptisms with two people who will assist to keep you safe.
Some people prefer to baptise themselves, like the Jewish tradition of a Mikva.
We have access to a chair lift into the railed off part of the river, so everyone who wants to can safely participate.
Picture
Bio Tour of Sde-Eliyahu Kibbutz is the next stop heading south for a tour and lunch
This is still a traditional, fully socialist agricultural kibbutz, founded by German Jews in the 70’s.
They were pioneers of organic farming, as well as world leaders in developing the bugs that eat the
bugs that eat the fruit and vegetables that humans eat! Their Bio bees will fascinate you as well.
We continue the enjoyable drive down the Jordan valley past Jericho.
Jericho is thought to be the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world.
There is an abundance of history here with Bible references to Joshua and the walls, Rahab the prostitute,
Herod, Zacchaeus climbing the tree to see Jesus…
Picture
We have two glorious nights at the Dead Sea ... the lowest place on earth
(not just the usual quick dip in a public beach as on regular tours).
Ein Bokek, is an exclusive strip of hotels with private beaches.
You can only get in if you are staying there...no day trippers and large tour buses.

Being half way through the tour, this is a time to recharge your energy batteries.
Benefit from the Dead Sea minerals in the water, mud and air.
You will feel so relaxed after this stop...and have skin like a baby's bottom!

Swim and float on your own or join the group and enjoy fun in the sun.
Trish offers a group experience mid-morning with refined mud to try 'adult face painting'!!

The beach is right outside the back door of the hotel.
Many of our guests also enjoy a pampering session at the hotel Spa.

Picture
On Sunday morning we check out of the hotel start the day with an exciting trip to Masada!
It's only 10 minutes drive to visit the spectacular Masada, Herod's summer palace
Picture
After the audio-visual history of Masada, we go up the cable car to see the most spectacular view of the Dead Sea.
The siege of Masada was one of the final events in the First Jewish–Roman War, occurring from 73 to 74 CE and
chronicled by Flavius Josephus, a Jewish rebel leader captured by the Romans, in whose service he became a historian.
This is one of the most memorable sites on tour.
Picture
We then continue driving along the Dead Sea past the Qumran caves, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered.
The caves are too high and far into the cliff for our group to walk up to.

At Jericho, we turn up the hill for an hour’s drive to Jerusalem for four nights.
The road follows the ancient route that Jesus walked on and is the scene of the parable of the Good Samaritan.

View the city of Jerusalem from Mount Scopus before heading to the Israel Museum
Picture
We will finish the day off at the Israel Museum with a giant model of ancient Jerusalem
and the Shrine of the Book displaying part of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
We have 4 nights in Jerusalem...there's so much to see and experience!

The following sites are included in our time here...then we add what we have time for!

Picture
The Kotel (Western or Wailing Wall)
The Western Wall is actually a supporting wall for the site of the Temple Mount and an important Holy site for Jews.
Traditionally, people leave written prayers in the wall cracks.
There are plenty of chairs for you sit and pray next to Christians and Jews from around the world.
Picture
Garden tomb and Golgotha
General Charles Gordon, on a visit to Jerusalem in 1883,  spied a prominent rocky crag which looked
to him like it could be the 'place of the skull' or Golgotha mentioned in the Bible as where Jesus was crucified.
Around the corner, Gordon identified an ancient tomb and putting the two together believed he had located
the hill of crucifixion and the nearby burial place.
The Garden Tomb is believed by many to be the garden and sepulchre of Joseph of Arimathea and therefore
a possible site of the resurrection of Jesus. This is a very special place for  Christian visitors to Israel.
We enjoy a short tour of the well-kept gardens and share communion here.
Another place that many guests say was 'the' highlight.
Picture
Lucinda (with Eddie) says...
"I now read the Gospels in technicolour (instead of black and white) after being in Israel.
Highlights for me include...the boat trip on the Galilee, the Dead Sea, communion at the Garden tomb,
and planting a tree.
In all it was a truly special  and memorable trip. Thank you, thank you, thank you xx"
Picture
Mount of Olives look-out
Separated from the Eastern Hill (the Temple Mount and the City of David) by the Kidron Valley,
the Mt. of Olives has always been an important feature in Jerusalem’s landscape.
It has a spectacular view of  Jerusalem.
Picture
Garden of Gethsemane & Church of all Nations
This olive grove is the place that Jesus and his disciples went to after their Passover meal and where Jesus was arrested.
Around this beautiful church are ancient olive trees where we have a time of reflection.

Picture
Picture
You don't have to be musical to appreciate the interactive Museum of Hebrew music in Jerusalem.
Take the opportunity to try some of the instruments yourself.
It's a fun visit!
Picture
Just around the corner is the spectacular Friends of Zion museum.
It's more of and experience than a museum with the 'wow' factor!
Picture
Machane Yehuda market

The largest market or souk in Jerusalem is a microcosm of Jewish life in Israel.
Fascinating sounds, sights and smells.
Halva, spices, pastries, specialty cheeses, wine and beers,
fruit and vegetables, fish...the list is endless
with 250 vendors!
Grab lunch and 'people watch' as well as having a wander.

Bethlehem is NOT on our itinerary, which may surprise you!
This is a political hotbed and not physically accessible for most of our travellers.
If you desperately want to go we can discuss a private option for you to get there!
Picture
Yad Vashem, the Holocaust museum is an emotive place to visit.
To explore in full would take several hours, so we usually allow a couple of hours to get an impression as well as paying our respects.
Picture
Chagall Windows
It's not only art lovers who are delighted by this set of 8 windows in the Hadassah hospital synagogue.
The commentary describes what Chagall included in these spectacular and unique windows.

The 'museums' in Israel that we visit are definitely not the 'item in a glass case with a label to read'... boring!
Israel is so innovative with its technology and presentation of information.
It's more of an inspiring, experience with a 'wow' factor.
We arrange for you to have seating or stools to avoid standing.
Truly, the Holy Land is a trip that you will never forget !  A perfect 'bucket list' tour.
Trish says..."I have to warn you...Israel can be addictive! Once may not be enough.

You will not just see famous sites, but also the history, the varied scenery, the archaeology, the diverse cultures and the people...

Whether you have been to Israel before or not, this will be a memorable....and comfortable tour for you.

Personally, as a Christian since 1969, I feel God's presence in Israel more than any other place on earth... it's His Land!

I would be honoured if you would come with me to the special land of Israel.

Hi, I’m Sally from Australia, 84 years young!
I give this tour 5 stars!
Very good organisation.
I loved the classy, comfortable, clean hotels.
The food was 1st class. Huge variety of quality dishes and so fresh.
The lunches on tour were excellent. Different every day.
Comfortable bus. All the ladies fell in love with Bil-al our bus driver.
He was so polite and so obliging… bringing out walkers from under the bus in record time.
Tal, the guide is the most amazing woman.
Polite, helpful, inspiring, passionate, so well informed.
She brought the Bible to life.
Trish Duke, our tour leader gets 10/10 for her organisation and caring skills.
She adjusted the pace at each site according to the abilities of the guests.
The whole tour was wonderful and I would do it again tomorrow if it wasn’t a 30-hour journey from Australia to Israel…and I had the money!
I loved the whole tour, but a couple of highlights were so memorable to me.
The first highlight was arriving in Tel Aviv and setting foot on The Land.
Masada with the spectacular view over the Dead Sea and the history that has always fascinated me was another place I will never forget.

Picture
IVY (second from the right) with some of the group...at the top of Masada.

Ivy wrote a review on TripAdvisor...

Trish Duke was a very caring and well-organised tour leader.
She always had the care and comfort of the guests as her first concern.

The amazing Easy Israel Tour was due to her many trips previously.
It meant that we saw so many wonderful sites, enjoyed fabulous hotels, interesting and
very fresh delights at every meal.

Our group got on very well and were considerate of each other’s needs especially as I needed a walking frame.
It was for me a wonderful trip and I particularly felt connected to Israel when I was able to plant a tree in
remembrance of my late daughter, Zoe.

I had to take two long haul flights from Australia to Israel…quite a journey, but it was worth the effort!

It was indeed a most interesting and informative trip and I just wish I could do it all again. as there was so much
to see and do.

All credit to Trish.

Listen to what Peter has to say about Trish...
